Requisition Number: STFR003859 Division/College: External Affairs Location: Boston Main Campus Full-time/Part-time: Full Time
Responsibilities Northeastern University is seeking an energetic, clear-thinking, intellectually curious, and imaginative editor to lead a new initiative for the university. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for External Affairs, Northeastern will launch a new digital publication called Experience Magazine, designed to explore in depth the over-arching concept of experience and how it shapes people and societies. Examples of the types of articles to be featured in Experience Magazine could include:
How experience changes the way the brain is wired
Why are so many companies hiring Chief Experience Officers?
How professional sports teams are transforming the “fan experience”
Although not explicitly focused on Northeastern people and events, Experience Magazine will help to solidify the university's position as the world leader in experiential education—learning based on the intentional integration of life experience and academic instruction. We believe this is an exciting thought leadership initiative and we are looking for the leader to bring it to life.
Does this sound like you?
As Editor-in-Chief, you will be a visionary and a builder, who can take the conceptual framework of Experience Magazine (in development since 2016) and animate it with a modern content creation and distribution strategy. Your ability to identify business, science, and cultural trends suitable for exploration in Experience Magazine will be critical to our success. You will be able to cultivate a strong network of freelance writers and editors (and ultimately recruit staff writers) to develop specific story ideas and directions.
Do you enjoy collaboration and autonomy?
You will work in collaboration with the Senior Vice President and other colleagues to sharpen the focus of Experience Magazine and make independent decisions about content strategy, focus, and frequency.
