The School of Communications at Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position focusing on communication design, effective August 2018.
We seek an outstanding faculty member with a Ph.D. or M.F.A. and professional experience to join our school’s 65 full-time teacher-scholar-mentors. Teaching assignments could include courses in visual communication, writing for visual media, interactive design, web publishing, and design strategies, as well as core courses in the school and a willingness to teach in the Elon Core Curriculum. The tenure-track process involves six years at rank and can be shortened by up to two years for those with full-time university teaching experience.
Elon’s nationally accredited School of Communications is home to 1,250 students, representing 20 percent of Elon’s student body, in a new 105,000-square-foot Communications Commons in the heart of campus. Students select among six majors: Journalism, Strategic Communications, Cinema & Television Arts, Communication Design, Media Analytics and Sport Management. More than 130 students already have declared a major in Communication Design, which the school began three years ago to address a curricular need in graphic design and emerging media.
