This is a professional faculty position (full-time) which includes all faculty benefits offered by Virginia Tech. Candidate must be able to work some holidays, weekends, and evening hours. HokieVision is seeking a creative, self-motivated individual to join our team on a full-time basis. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Working with the Director of Broadcast Operations and Integrator to design, select product, manage installation and manage operations for new multiple broadcast control room facility and athletic venue fiber and cable infrastructure used for ACC Network and HokieVision productions. Will work with the Director of Broadcast Operations to maintain fiber connectivity with all venues to control rooms and ESPN. Will provide broadcast engineering support of live events for in-house and ACC Network video productions, both digital and linear. Will oversee and maintain equipment inventory, computer equipment, software, hardware, and local area network applications on systems throughout the video production facilities and venues. Candidate will perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on audio/visual equipment located in Athletics’ offices, venues, and broadcast control rooms. Along with Associate Director of Engineering will serve as liaison to outside broadcast partners for Athletics’ venues. Will assist with set-up and operation and strike of remote and studio productions.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or broadcast maintenance engineering training; several years’ experience with professional live remote and studio production; experience with video switchers, graphics platforms, LED displays and components, video instant replay systems, broadcast cameras, fiber and coax cable termination; successful candidate will exhibit strong work ethic, ability to work in a team setting, and have a desire to work in collegiate athletics; ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds; ability to work outside of typical business hours as needed, potentially including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferences: Knowledge of NCAA and ACC rules and regulations; experience with camera shading; support and maintenance of television production equipment, computer networks and subsystems; ability to rapidly diagnose video system and IT problems; provide alternative solutions if needed to maintain deadlines; working knowledge of Single Mode Fiber; knowledge of technology and industry trends.
