Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, 9 – month, Tenure-Track or Fixed Term position. Duties will include teaching a four (4) course load each semester with course release for Musical Directing each semester. Courses taught include song study, musicianship, ensembles, etc. This position will serve as an advisor to our Musical Theatre student group. Will work closely with Musical Theatre Program Coordinator on season selection, casting, productions and curriculum development.
WCU’s School of Stage and Screen is a highly collaborative group of selective programs in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Film and Television Production, Dance, and Entertainment Design and Technology. The Musical Theatre program is a degree track in the BFA in Theatre.
Terminal degree in Theatre, Music, Musical Theatre, or closely related field or masters degrees in such fields with at least 5 years experience in Musical Theatre and/or teaching at the University level. Working professionals in the Musical Theatre with a national reputation may be considered with a bachelor's level degree. Music Directing, conducting, sight-reading and piano accompaniment skills necessary.
