Position Summary: The Digital Media Engineer is principally responsible for the implementation, operation, maintenance, and on-going support of the university's digital media and audiovisual systems and applications. These include telepresence, video and web conferencing, classroom audiovisual technology, executive meeting spaces; and their integration with related IT services such as digital signage, unified communications, learning systems and spaces, special event systems and digital asset repositories. The position is also responsible for providing audiovisual support for special events. The position is expected to have a broad knowledge of state-of-the practice digital media and audiovisual technologies. As a self-starter with only general direction, the position demonstrates a high-level of creativity in the architecture and design of digital media and audio visual systems and a high-level of problem-solving and resourcefulness working with third-party suppliers and others to diagnose and resolve operational issues and incidents with digital media and audiovisual IT services. The position generally operates under deadlines and works closely with IT service teams throughout the IST Division leading digital media projects and/or representing digital media as part of other initiatives. The position trains other staff for first and second level support of digital media and audio visual IT services.
Prerequisite Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in a media and/or technology related field. 2. Five years relevant work experience designing, implementing, and/or supporting digital media and audiovisual technologies at a large division or enterprise level including: 3 Demonstrated experience in advanced operations of digital media systems. 4 Demonstrated knowledge of audiovisual equipment and system design (both digital and analog). 5 Experience managing video conferencing hardware and software including experience in implementing, testing, and troubleshooting audiovisual or networking oriented software modules and features. 6 Experience configuring and programming audiovisual and digital media control systems 7 Experience in the deployment & management of enterprise server-based audio/video monitoring systems. 8 A successful record of taking projects from concept to completion 9. Expert knowledge of audiovisual architectures and control equipment and systems; projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, codecs, bridging equipment and their interconnection over TCP/IP networks 10. Strong oral, written and communication and presentation skills in working with both technical staff and end users. 11. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
