Title V Project Director The Title V Office at Whittier College seeks a Title V Project Director. Reporting to the President, the Title V Project Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of Title V grant activities through the Advancing STEM Academic Programs (ASAP) at Whittier College to achieve the project's objectives of 'Increasing Capacity for STEM Learning and Research.' To bolster graduation and retention rates of Hispanic and other underrepresented students by providing necessary support for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning and research, the Director will facilitate the use of resources for maximum effectiveness and in compliance with federal guidelines. The Title V Project Director is a contractual position ending 9/30/2020, contingent upon the annual renewal of Title V federal funding and satisfactory performance.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week Exempt Status: Exempt Full Time/Part Time status: Full time Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000; Salary will commensurate with experience, skills, and knowledge.

Location/Department: Whittier College (Main Campus)/Title V
Responsibilities: Provide leadership to Title V program planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. Develop strategies to institutionalize Title V initiatives at the College. Collaborate effectively with the Vice Presidents, Steering Committee, Center for Advising and Academic Success, Center for Career and Professional Development, faculty leads, and staff to coordinate activities with existing resources and services. Communicate project goals and objectives to all College constituencies and project collaborators. Issue quarterly reports summarizing progress for the President, the Steering Committee, and others. Develop and maintain a Title V Policy and Procedures Manual that embodies the requirements of program statutes, regulations, and policy statements. Manage the program budget in strict compliance with federal guidelines, authorize allowable expenditures and quarterly financial reports Prepare and submit all reports required by the Department of Education. Communicate with Title V program office. Attend Title V Project Director conference. Coordinate overall evaluation of project with external evaluator and College staff. Participate in the hiring of grant-funded personnel and provide administrative supervision.

Position Specifications and Requirements: Master's degree in a STEM area required. Five years of administrative experience in higher education, preferably at a liberal arts college. Three years of experience managing grant programs, including budgets, preferably with Title III, Title V or HSI STEM initiatives. Two years of experience in postsecondary instruction or student support services in a college environment preferred. Knowledge of distance learning and digital media preferred. Demonstrated commitment to implementation of research-based strategies and performance indicators for outcomes assessment. Experience working with and insight into the needs of first-generation and/or underrepresented college students, and a commitment to the ideals of a liberal arts education. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student, faculty, and community groups. Proven ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
