RESEARCH/COMMUNITY MANAGER, Media Laboratory-Media Cloud Project, to conduct research on media manipulation and work with social change organizations to analyze conversations in digital media. The Media Cloud platform is a set of online tools for monitoring and measuring online media coverage. Will become proficient in the use of the Media Cloud suite and contribute to ongoing research; develop a deep understanding of digital media ecosystems; help partner organizations explore online media coverage of issues related to their goals and conduct research on their dynamics; and use these experiences to help inform further development of Media Cloud tools. Will work closely with researchers and developers at the Media Lab and Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. This position provides an opportunity to conduct important research into how social mobilization interacts with media and to help make Media Cloud more useful for nonprofits trying to understand the role of media for democratic processes. Job Requirements REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in social sciences or health-related field; at least one year of research experience; experience and/or interest in social change topics, particularly in the field of political communication and/or human rights; active participation in online communities; experience with creative uses of new technologies for social change; project management experience; strong writing, communication, and group facilitation skills; and ability to consider issues from multiple perspectives, explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences, and work independently and as part of a team. Master's degree in political sciences, communication, or social sciences and fluency in languages other than English preferred. Job #15618
