Job Summary The Executive Director of Information Technology is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT operational functions at the college. The Director oversees technology management services to maximize the effectiveness and security of the college data infrastructure. Directing programs across four units, Digital Media Services, Enterprise Systems and Services, Infrastructure Services, and the Solution Center, the Director is responsible for implementation, operation, and support of technology infrastructure services – network, servers, storage, database, desktops, telephones and other technology platforms across the college – as well as technology support services – helpdesk, technology services to specialized labs and classrooms, and instructional technology and design. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and oversees two Directors and a staff of approximately 26.

Leadership • Lead the Information Technology Department; Create and articulate short- and long-range technology strategies. • Cultivate understanding of the current state and future evolution of technology needs for higher education, particularly with respect to teaching and learning. • Develop and successfully implement cost-effective short- and long-range technology strategies that will enhance the delivery of the academic goals and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s overall administrative and support functions. • Foster collaboration among campus partners.
Management • Oversee operations of the Information Technology department. • Create an environment and systems that ensure the information, reporting and data integrity of the institution. • Create an operational environment that is efficient and secure. Ensure the security of college systems from external and internal invasive threats. • Ensure consistency of effective service delivery to the constituents of the community: students, faculty and staff. • Manage a stable operational environment for infrastructure, applications, networking, phone systems and educational support systems. • Create, update and communicate organizational technology policies and procedures. • Develop and manage the IT department operating, salary and capital budgets. • Maintain the organization’s compliance with relevant IT industry standards. • Determine appropriate changes for improvements, reduction of costs and heightened efficiency. • Manage any and all outside services contracts supporting or providing IT services. • Manage all aspects of academic technologies and services including audio visual services, course management and instructional technology.
External Relationships • Manage relationships with external suppliers and other organizations. • Negotiate contracts for the acquisition and maintenance of all systems hardware, software, and telecommunications. • Maintain a proactive institutional approach to ensuring quality and value of goods and services received.
Starting date for this position will be on or about July 1, 2018.
• Associate’s degree • Minimum of 5 years of technical computing experience • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience • Minimum of 1 year of project management experience
