FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTThe Department of Mass Communications, Creative and Performing Arts and Speech at Medgar Evers College seeks a creative and collaborative faculty member for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of New and Digital Media Communication.The Department serves all incoming and continuing students through its core courses of Art and Music. The department has radio and television studios for broadcasting and mass communication. The department is approved for a BFA in Media and the Performing Arts. It is dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education and committed to providing students with the relevant interdisciplinary experiences.The selected candidate must have scholarly or creative expertise in areas of new media, digital communication, or interactive technologies. The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses in digital media content, theories and/or production, as well as other areas of departmental interest. Responsibilities include performing teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions, performs teaching sections of the major core sequence, which combines theory and practice at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels; regularly teaching an advanced seminar in areas of digital media; advising students; and at least one production per year as part of the department's Arts Alive Program.QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.The successful candidate must have a terminal degree: M.F.A., Ph.D.; Ed.
