Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Dean will provide overall leadership in fostering academic excellence. Foster an appreciation for our teacher-scholar model and student-centered learning environment. Provide leadership through shared governance with faculty, administration, and other stakeholders. Direct management and accountability for the School of Communications budget. Build relationships with alumni, media/communication professionals, industry leaders, and prospective students and parents. Advocate on behalf of the school to the university administration. Foster an environment of collegiality, respect, openness and cooperation. Lead and empower the faculty and staff to determine and implement the vision for the future of the school. Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants: Master's degree required; terminal degree preferred. Prior leadership experience required; preferably within higher education. Administrative experience in higher education and/or a track record of academic leadership, preferred. Prior teaching experience, preferred. Prior experience managing budgets, experience and understanding of Responsibility Centered Management is a plus. Managerial experience in media/communication industries is a plus.
