The Teaching & Learning Commons at West Virginia University is looking for a Multimedia Specialist (involving audio, visual and digital content). This position will be responsible for creating, directing and producing a variety of cross-platform media projects and content.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Work on instructional media and web-streaming projects, as well as researching and exploring innovative new multimedia possibilities., for the iDesign unit of the Teaching and Learning Commons.
Create (both pre- and post-production) media products including, but not limited to, videos, slideshows, interactions, and other new technologies for the Teaching & Learning Commons.
Capture, retrieve, create and/or edit visual, audio or other resources that can be incorporated into instructional materials, website showcases and multimedia presentations.
Plan, produce, or assist with project briefs, creative briefs, story boards and/or wire frames as a basic visual guide when planning a multimedia project.
Consult with and assist team leads, instructional designers, faculty and other instructors with video capture and other media techniques in creating learning objects to be incorporated directly into curriculum development.
Edit, condense, and produce video/audio/digital media within limited time constraints.
Coordinate with the iDesign Visual Lead to ensure assigned events are assisted with photo/video/webcasting/audio.
Serve as mentor and help guide others in learning and applying current and developing media technologies, both by informal means and formal presentations.
Assist a variety of constituents with the production and design of multimedia projects, visual media and overall design ideas.
Assist with webcast broadcasting, post-production activities, web site development/updating, software evaluations, graphic design projects (web/print), etc. at the direction of the iDesign Visual Lead and TLC Leadership.
Bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic design, communication, computer science, or related field; any equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
Two (2) years of experience in the following:
Shooting, editing, outputting digital photographs, video, and audio
Various aspects of multimedia (audio/video/etc.), including but not limited to, production, project management and creative direction
Use of multimedia production software including Adobe Photoshop, Premier, and AfterEffects
Web-based graphic design, development and deployment preferred
