Hourly Salary Range: $15.15 – $23.46 (DOQ)
ABOUT THE PROGRAM The Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program Coordinator will help develop and implement joint Extension/Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center (MAISRC) programs that train citizen scientists to contribute to statewide AIS detection and monitoring efforts: the LCCMR-funded programs AIS Detectors and AIS Trackers. This person will work closely with program leads Dan Larkin and Megan Weber, as well as other Extension and MAISRC faculty and staff.
This position will assist with coordinating the University of Minnesota (U of M) effort to train volunteers to identify, report, and monitor target AIS. This effort will include assisting with development and delivery of online and in-person trainings to: A. Equip volunteers to identify key AIS and native species that could be confused with AIS, B. Train and support volunteers to perform AIS surveillance and monitoring, C. Deliver AIS Detectors workshops—full-day, in-person trainings across the state on AIS ecology, identification, reporting, and monitoring.
Trainings will be delivered statewide. Training partners include the University of Minnesota, Extension, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and numerous local partners.
ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is accountable to the University of Minnesota Extension Program Leader for Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Education in the Extension Center for Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
The person chosen for this position will join a statewide team of regional and campus-based individuals focused on invasive species, natural resources, and related programs.
The position will be housed with the Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Education Program team in Extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
70% - Educational Development & Implementation: *Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of AIS educational activities online and in-person. *Assist in developing and maintaining supplies to be used for trainings and for volunteer work related to AIS. *Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, participant registration and communication, room reservations, communication with instructors, development and distribution of educational materials, and other tasks as assigned.
20% - Administration: *Maintain records and assist with preparation of reports on program activities, outcomes, and grants. *Learn and assist with technical support for online AIS tracking systems and help volunteers utilize these systems.
10% - Community Relations: *Assist in developing and sustaining collaborations and partnerships with AIS stakeholders.

The appointment is funded for an initial period of six months. The appointment may be extended depending on performance and availability of funding. 3. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education & Experience:
Two (2) years of education in the area of Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Education, or a related field AND at least two (2) years of experience (paid or unpaid) related to position responsibilities.
Examples of related experience include, but are not limited to: invasive species; resource management; adult non-formal education; volunteer management; digital media and communication technologies.
Preferred Education and Experience: Additional education or a completed Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Education, or a closely related field. Additional education is preferred in aquatic ecology, environmental management, adult education, environmental education and interpretation, program development, and formal and non-formal science education.
