Under direction of the Academic and Research Technologies Associate Director for Digital Media and Design, Digital Media Specialist Lead (79), and the (ART) Architect for Media Technologies, the Digital Media Specialist 77 advances the faculty and University research and administrative initiatives through project support in all aspects of video and audio production. Being able to lead as well as support others in audio and video development is a major component of the responsibilities of this position. Estimating project costs and expenses, directing, editing and delivery of finished multi-media in a wide array of deliverables is key for this position. An employee in this position should foster continual growth and improvement within the group and should work toward the future of IT @ NU. This position also supervises Student Video Specialists and supports their ongoing growth and contribution to the team.
Works in collaboration with clients and production staff to produce a variety of video products for online distribution and webcasting/video streaming. Studio Production includes planning and coordinating all aspects of production in the studio. Production on-location includes these elements as well as coordination with location-specific staff, departments, and activities.
Coordinates pre-production and production planning activities, including advising the client and guiding concept development when appropriate. Plan, script shoot, edit and publish a variety of video content type for educational websites, including Massive Open Online Courses. Directs assigned studio productions.
Responsible for post- production: editing and reviewing projects in process, instructing and overseeing editors, offloading media, logging and reviewing footage and B-roll, and ensuring product quality on a per project basis.
Coordinate video production with other communications projects, departments and event calendar. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, an attentiveness to detail, and an active awareness of the larger organizational goals to which this group contributes.
Assist with the schedules and budgets for assigned projects to ensure that project goals, milestone and deliverable are achieved and tracked.
Supervise Temp Workers, Contractors, and Student Temps
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree from an established Media, Design or ART University program. OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Two years experience (Internship, work study or other training work as a video and media specialist)
Experience with the maintenance, preparation, and operation of NUIT camera and audio equipment, including: Panasonic PX270s, Panasonic FS-700, Panasonic AF100, Red Scarlet Dragon, Canon 5D Mark II, Micro-P2 Cards, SD Cards, Sennheiser wireless lavalier microphones, Shotgun microphones, Multichannel mixing boards, Tricaster Live Switcher, Mediasite Recorder, ARRI lights and gels, Celeb & Diva lights, and other equipment in this ever-evolving field
Experience using NLE editing software, including the following programs for post-production utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite: Premiere Pro, Audition, Media Encoder, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator
Experience using file formats and media encoding, including but limited to:
Apple ProRes -H.264 -AVC Intra -R3D.

Three years experience in video/audio production, interactive/presentation design or other multimedia related role.
