The Instructional and Streaming Media Specialist provides support for video streaming technologies, classroom capture, webcasting, and live streaming. The position also provides direct support for classes and other events at Bailey Hall, a 1,300 seat performing arts and lecture hall. These technology-based services directly support Cornell's teaching, research, and outreach mission, as well as administrative functions.
The position provides technical leadership for regular staff, contractors, and student employees supporting the Event Technical Support and Media Production Service. This position operates at the convergence of information technology, integrated audio-visual systems, and digital media production and distribution.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
Service Manager for the Video Streaming & Hosting Service, including Kaltura and Mediasite
Evaluate and support classroom capture technologies
Develop and oversee media production and media archival workflows
Provide technical guidance to student employee videographers
Support classes and other events at Bailey Hall
Bachelor's degree with a minimum three to five years of experience in media production, event support, video streaming, and using audio-video encoders is required, or equivalent combination of education and formal training.
A demonstrated record of strong customer service skills is required. Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Availability for pre-scheduled evening and weekend events is required. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, microphone technique, videography, shot composition, remote pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) cameras, hard camera operations, and video editing is required. Demonstrated experience with video platforms or lecture capture platforms such as Panopto, Mediasite, Kaltura, or similar, and experience with live streaming applications such as Live Stream is required.
Experience with enterprise network topologies, DNS, DHCP, and firewall management is preferred. Experience with networked digital audio and digital video protocols (Dante, HDBaseT) is preferred.
Experience with entertainment rigging is preferred. Experience with high profile event support preferred. Experience with advanced sound production and Avid Venue system is preferred.
