Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $51,100 - $89,200/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Involves developing digital communications when communications knowledge, rather than Information Technology knowledge, is paramount. Includes website design and development, or producing communications or instruction using the web, audio, video, and other digital media, which may involve content creation, designing, production and / or programming.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced digital communications professional to produce design and layout for a variety of non-routine and moderately complex web site applications; ensure search engine optimization; and develop social media platforms. Demonstrates a full understanding of industry practices and organization policies and procedures. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Smarter Balanced is a University of California, Santa Cruz Extension program that provides standardized assessment for over 7M students across California and the U.S. The communication department oversees digital and social media, publications and communications for Smarter Balanced. The department reports to the senior director of public affairs, executive director of Smarter Balanced and dean of UCSC Extension.
Smarter Balanced headquarters is located at UCSC Silicon Valley Campus, 3175 Bowers Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95054.
This is a remote position, which requires employees to work from a home office and be available to travel, when needed.
Ability to work remotely from home office and travel when necessary.
Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent combination of experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
Thorough knowledge of content management systems and / or relevant web applications used for web production and organization-specific computer application programs.
Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
