Description: The Production Center Manager will oversee Emerson College's state-of-the-art Journalism Production Center located on 120 Boylston Street in Boston. The Journalism Production Center features classroom, production, and post-production facilities. The facility is centered around a Ross Overdive system and ENPS. This space enables students to acquire hands-on experience in end-to-end news production. Deeply tied to the Journalism curriculum, the JPC provides equipment and training for students to develop skills needed to report the news in a rapidly changing world. This position reports to the Manager of Production Facilities within the Television, Film, and Radio department.

Required Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have:Supervisory experienceA bachelors degreeExperience working in a television control room and/or broadcast news roomExperience working on the video production process (from acquisition through post production)Non-linear editing experience (using Final Cut Pro X preferred).A strong understanding of Mac and Windows operating systems.Familiarity with control room systems, including video servers, audio board, switcher and intercom.

This person will assist, support, and troubleshoot student and faculty use of the editing systems, control room, and studio space within the Journalism Production Center.
The Manager will train faculty and students in the operation of technical equipment and software within the Journalism Production Center.
From time-to-time the Manager will lead base-level maintenance and repairs in the Production Center.
The Manager will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, professionally developing 16 student workers as well as the Assistant Manager of the Journalism Production Center. Supervision includes directing work assignments and tasks to students. The manager will also be responsible for performance management and annual reviews for the Assistant Manager.
Administer and manage the mass storage video server for the Journalism curriculum. Plan for and install or assist in installation of new equipment. Coordinate equipment repairs and installations with TRF Engineering. Coordinate schedules of the JPC including academic courses and other student use as well as reservations of the evolving media suite.
