Summary: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for general repairs such as changing of light bulbs, unstopping drains, repairs to faucets and sensor battery installations, and repairs of miscellaneous equipment included but not limited to patient furniture, display devices, materials management carts and devices, installation of patient and general environment products, support to television replacements and nurse call systems, fire extinguisher inspections, and other preventative maintenance assignments. The role of maintenance mechanic is varied and flexible, following the overall service request stream. Additional support includes patient room service calls related to temperature, pressure relationship field testing, vacuum tube system support and repair activities, linen chute system support and repair activities, broken bed retrieval, and other similar work. May be required to perform other duties as assigned, dependent upon departmental and customer needs or workload.

Service field includes but is not limited to general lighting, plumbing, minor appliances, tube delivery, pneumatic material handling, minor HVAC, acoustical ceiling repair and general services support. - Adherence to organizational and departmental policies, including adherence to employee responsibilities under the OSHA standards. - Perform minor plumbing repairs including faucets, leaks, and unstopping drains to maintain sanitation and patient satisfaction. - Responsible for inventory control, ordering, and use of the hospital's materials procurement system. - Respond to fire alarm activations, and support the resetting of the fire alarm system. - Perform minor air conditioning adjustments; such as minor thermostat repairs. - Complete required documentation to meet regulatory agency requirements including work orders and PM records. Has a basic knowledge of fire and life safety relating to allowable hall clearances, fire and smoke compartments and general fire stopping. - Does minor service to nurse call and television system to maintain patient satisfaction. - Does monthly PMs including egress lighting, fire extinguishers, exit lighting and other as assigned and completes documentation to meet regulatory requirements. - Maintains work environment and shop areas on a daily basis to provide a safe environment for all staff.
