Cox Communications is looking for a highly motivated DevOps Engineer (Application Admin III) to join the Cox.com DevOps Team. The candidate must possess an eagerness to develop technical and business skills and be a strong team player that can fit in culturally with a fast-paced, energetic, driven technology team.This is a DevOps position that will be responsible for supporting the development to production life cycle of website applications and platforms, as well as implementing and supporting DevOps tools and processes especially automation and monitoring.
Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of website applications and platforms, leveraging in-depth knowledge of system functionality and business logic
Develop and analyze alerts and dashboards for both technical and non-technical audiences in tools like Splunk and New Relic to facilitate continuous improvement of platforms and applications
Develop or update existing scripts for automation of routine tasks
Adopt, customize and implement industry standard DevOps policies and procedures (ex. logging enhancements, runbooks, proactive planning, documentation)
Be an active team member following Agile or Kanban methodologies
Assist in the defining of requirements to ensure that future deployments are operationally sound
Assist in the documentation of current and future applications and systems
Ability to lead outages to successful conclusion and effectively communicate to management
Interact with peer network, database, webservice , and infrastructure teams to seamlessly implement solutions to complex technical issues
As part of Tier 3 team, respond to and troubleshoot application emergencies as a part of an on call rotation, escalating to Tier 4 as needed
BS/BA in related discipline (i.e Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.)
5-8 years of experience in related field
Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication
Must demonstrate strong team building skills
Well versed in internet architectures, web and, Java applications
3+ years of experience in RHEL, JBOSS, Apache administration
Proficiency in application system monitoring, alerting, analysis, and remediation
Experience with scripting
Experience working with public high traffic websites
Knowledge and experience with networking, load balancing, HTTP, DNS, SSL, VPN, CDN
Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve website and server issues
Must be able to translate business needs and requirements into technical specifications
Experience working in a DevOps model
Experience with Ansible/Ansible Tower, shell scripting, python, CI/CD, Jenkins
Experience working with APM tools such as New Relic or Splunk
Knowledge of containers virtualization, and cloud platforms (VMWare, AWS)
Experience using Git in a team environment (merge requests, branching, push, and pulls).
Knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager a plus
