Pay Range: $50,405 annually or higher depending on experience

Position Summary: The Events and Support Services unit is an event production service center and campus-wide resource for event management. This unit provides services to the institution and community ranging from small rental orders, to full executive level productions. The Technical Manager for Sound, Production and Lighting oversees a team of full time and part-time employees, handling day-to-day audiovisual and production needs of multiple university venues. The team facilitates in excess of 2500 events annually ranging from simple set-ups to large-scale events including Commencement, athletic events, music festivals, and other special events. This position supervises the technical production within the events unit to ensure cohesive and effective event planning, staffing, and execution. Other focuses for this position will be on understanding and maintaining technical equipment inventories, scheduling and supervising large work crews, and working with customers to meet their expectations.
• A Bachelor’s degree in theater, music, radio-television, digital technology or other related area, or equivalent experience. • At least 4 years of full-time professional experience working in event production • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role. • Experience with budgeting and contracting • Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain an effective “team member” working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and clients • Rigging experience • Ability to communicate effectively • Ability to work independently • Ability to work extended hours with variable schedules including evening, nights, weekends and holidays to meet production deadlines • Valid driver’s license
• Other preferred qualifications include any combination of experience, training and education demonstrating a wide variety of competence in the management or operation of contemporary event production services • Demonstrated ability to plan and assign work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources • Experience determining employee’s training needs and providing or arranging for such training • Experience using CAD software
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: • Stand and squat on catwalks and beams 70+ feet above floor level • Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. • Work on ladders • Perform rigging • Read and interpret blueprints • Work in enclosed spaces and dusty environments
