The Audio Visual Services Systems Manager provides planning, oversight and management and evaluation for the AVS systems and services for 4801 Massachusetts Ave. The Manager determines essential technical and service requirements for the building, serves as in house expert, and is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance and repair of audio, video and associated computing equipment for classroom instruction, videoconferencing, video-streaming, and events, displaying proficiency with Windows-based and Mac hardware and software. The incumbent performs essential maintenance and equipment repairs, including system programming, arranging outside contractor support when necessary. The incumbent may also support other departments as necessary. This position researches, evaluates and recommends the purchase of audio, video and related electronic equipment (including computers) as well as testing equipment, parts and accessories for the building support inventory. Leads AV system upgrade and new installation projects in the building. The position includes supervisory and training responsibilities for building staff and clients. The position also must serve as a shift or event manager for the building.
This position reports directly to the Director of Audio Visual Services
Reporting to this position is the Sr. Audio Visual Services Evening Technician and part time staff
Additionally, this position collaborates with the Assistant Director, Evening Services on the main campus
The incumbent must be able work with minimal supervision, direct a team of full and part-time technicians and oversee the work of outside contractors
Manages daily building operations in the Spring Valley Campus AV office

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training or experience
5-7 years’ experience with increasing responsibility in audio and video, electronics troubleshooting & repair and computer applications, including experience with live sound reinforcement, project management and supervision
Experience with Web-based lecture capture systems. Strong background in Web–based conferencing products
Ability to work with a variety of AV controls systems including Extron, AMX, Crestron, and SP Controls
Must have deep familiarity with both the wiring and programming aspects of SP Controls systems
Proficiency in the following computer software applications must include word processing, spreadsheets, network setup and digital media editing and conversion as well as live video streaming
Demonstrated willingness to develop skills in emerging AV technology and processes, as campus needs develop
Must be able to provide solution sets for a broad customer or client base
Must be able to effectively multitask and work in a dynamic, high intensity and rapidly changing environment
Must be able to effectively direct work of full and part time staff and clients
Must have excellent communication and analytical skills and be able to work on all levels of management and customers
Strong customer service skills, ability to gain cooperation and motivation from others, while managing competing priorities
Must be able to effectively plan and coordinate multi-task requirements
Demonstrated ability to work independently - The position requires an individual who can guide oneself with little supervision, and depend on oneself to get things done
Ability to lift, move, push/pull up to 50 pounds
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in related field
