Advertised Summary Job Description: The incumbent will support the Equipment Room and its functions including but not limited to logistical and operational support for department, AV support for classes and events, equipment checkouts to students and faculty, support for broadcast technology including equipment and editing software. The incumbent will also assist in the operation of the school's broadcast studio facilities, work with J-School administration to schedule equipment availability, and support the technology help desk of the school.
This is a part-time, temporary position. The hire must be able to work on evenings and weekends.
Audio Visual Support: -Responsible for scheduling, implementation and follow-up of all AV requests for classes and events. -Supports and oversees Journalism School AV needs including, but not limited to, school related conferences and workshops. -Provides support for faculty and students if they experience equipment problems. -Help develop program to assist students with new technologies
Equipment Room Support: -Responsible for processing student and faculty equipment requests (i.e., lending and returning equipment). -Maintain equipment inventory: ensure that equipment is in good working order and inventory records are complete. Ensure that malfunctioning equipment is repaired in a timely manner. -Works directly with broadcast faculty and students in instruction on use of the equipment
Broadcast Technology Support: -Assists in the maintenance of the broadcast television studio and radio lab, ensuring that the studio is staffed and that the equipment functions properly. -Provide crew support to the school's broadcast and ISDN studios for all scheduled projects. ?Edits/Produces video content in conjunction with J-School learning initiatives. -Assists students with editing projects through the use of Adobe Creative Suite, and other media post-production software. -Assists in the planning and implementation of new solutions based on user requirements.
Help Desk and IT Support -Support students, faculty and staff by addressing Technology related issues raised via centralized help desk and other customer support channels for Broadcast and IT departments respectively. -Assist with all technology-equipped space maintenance and upkeep: computer labs, seminar and conference rooms, lecture halls and event spaces. Ensure technology is not a point of friction in the teaching process, this includes A/V related support, desktop support and troubleshooting software and hardware problems.

General Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree and/or its equivalent required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills needed. Must have a strong customer service orientation. Must have ability to work efficiently in a demanding, fast-paced, and deadline driven work environment. Organizational skills a must.
Must be able to work on evenings and weekends, and be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Video production experience needed. Good knowledge of analog and digital broadcast equipment theory, Software experience with Adobe Creative Suite of applications, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Power Point, IT support - Windows and Mac OS, troubleshooting various AV technologies including projectors, sound systems, flat screens, scalers/switchers, etc.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the following areas: Television and radio broadcast technical production practice in both studio and field, video editing/shooting, customer service, project management
