As part of the Academic Media Production (AMP) team, this position works closely with faculty, lecturers/instructors, and academic professionals to plan and execute media production consistent with their pedagogical and research goals. As a critical partner in the instructional design process, the Instructional Media Producer is charged with infusing rich educational media into the Marquette curricula, at the course and program level. The Instructional Media Producer coordinates curricular media productions across teaching delivery methods and collaborates with media professionals to outline, direct, and produce shared media resources to benefit the faculty, staff, and students at Marquette University. As the University expands its digital media offerings for residential and online students, we are looking for a dynamic director-producer who will craft highly engaging pedagogical experiences and push the edges of technologies for immersive learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Leads and manages media production on a variety university courses and CTL projects across multiple teaching formats from pre-production with faculty/instructors to delivery through campus platforms such as D2L, MediaSite etc.. 2. Provides advice and consults with faculty on the development of deep media integration to advance student success and augment learning processes. Is a partner in the course design process and determines best uses of media for instruction. 3.Directs and records video/audio recordings both in studio and on-location settings as designed through collaboration with instructors, other CTL course production team members and other Marquette stakeholders. 4.Collaborates with larger Academic Media Production team for post-production, graphics and archival support as needed by projects as well as contributes to long-term strategy for scalable media creation and distribution services. 5.Advises faculty on universal design regarding the use of electronic media and pedagogy. Ensures media content is ADA compliant and accessible to people with disabilities as required by Marquette University, federal and state law. 6. Manages, archives, develops plans for rapid deployment of academic media, adjures on fair-use of digital media. Operates and maintains media assets and streaming media servers. 7.Manages student hiring, training, and coordinates the student staff in areas of video production and post-production. Hires actors as needed for media projects. 8. Maintains knowledge of, and aptitude for, evolving media forms, techniques and applications for education. This is especially the case for augmented, virtual and 3D media. 9.Contributes towards a research agenda on innovations for high-impact pedagogical techniques using digital media. Attends conferences, presents research, collaborates with peer professionals. 10.Travel to conferences and professional development opportunities 11.Is a co-investigator on various university research projects as applicable 12.Provides training on effective media creation, distribution, and archival procedures to faculty, staff and students. 13.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Associates Degree with significant media production experience
A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience (e.g., educational technology or media production).
At least two years of successful experience managing crew and related production logistics in both studio and field settings.
Demonstrated experience using the Adobe Production Suite (specifically, Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects).
Experience working in studio settings involving lighting design, working with green screens, and operating professional camera and sound equipment.
Experience with field production including the video recording of live events, and the use of portable lighting and sound equipment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as in a self-directed, proactive, and creative manner. Excellent communication skills.
Understanding of media production for instructional contexts
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and productively.
Valid driver's license.
Requires ability to shoot and produce content in multiple environments
Typical office environment for editing and some media production
May require travel and overnight stays.
May require lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with 360 degree, virtual and augmented reality video production
Teaching experience at the college level
Some proficiency in Spanish so as to navigate closed captioning, to provide services with AJCU media production partners in Latin America.
