The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) has an immediate opening for an Audio Visual Coordinator. The ECE Department is a diverse academic community just shy of 1,400 individuals (faculty, staff and students) and includes global research and teaching efforts through extensions of our Pittsburgh academic programs and research in Silicon Valley, Portugal, Rwanda, Thailand and Singapore. The Audio Visual Coordinator will be part of the ECE Information Technology Services (ITS) group and will report to the ECE Audio Visual and Distance Communication Manager (AV/DC Manager).
In this role you will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating AV team support for departmental leaders, staff, and faculty. You will also be tasked with providing additional on premise and remote technical support for integrated teleconferencing systems in classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and other collaborative spaces. Other duties may include end-user training, equipment maintenance and testing.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Build and schedule distance streaming events using Bluejeans, Zoom, and other platforms, while maintaining and organized schedule relative to AV team
Collaborate with faculty to determine technology needs for distance communication
Moderate classroom webinars and video conferences across multiple platforms to ensure quality delivery of over 7,000 distance meetings/year and an average of 20 special events per month.
Develop, maintain, and present operational documentation
Collaborate with AV/DC Manager to address end-user issues and facilities maintenance
Assist with on premise and remote troubleshooting or reconnections across 20+ conference rooms and distance classrooms; sites in Silicon Valley, Rwanda and Portugal.
Assist and instruct faculty, staff, and students regarding proper usage of AV equipment
Maintain evening and weekend coverage as needed
Bachelor's degree in Digital Media Communications or equivalent work experience
Experience with video conferencing/VOIP usage and operator support
Basic understanding of how video codecs, media bridges, switchers, and Crestron Control Systems work
Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting streaming media systems
Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel; knowledge of Mac OSX and Windows
Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing, and strong attention to detail
