The Senior Technician for Integrated Digital Media (IDM) serves for setup, maintenance, and purchasing of all technology for the program, as well as troubleshooting technology issues for students, faculty, and staff. The Senior Technician is the first and last stop for any technology related questions for the program or Technology, Culture, and Society (TCS) department. Independently design construct maintain, monitor and operate complex laboratory devices and system, specifically not limited to a single type or class of equipment. That is, competence in working with systems containing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and vacuum components in various combinations. Must be capable of trouble- shooting, identifying and rectifying problems and insuring that systems operate within safety guidelines. Translate the needs of faculty and research staff into working experiments. Train and supervising of students.
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education: AAS degree in related area preferred
Required Experience: 5 years experience in broad-based technical work, including specific experience in at least three areas listed above
Preferred Experience: Supervisory experience
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Working knowledge troubleshooting of server technologies such as: (Mac Server, LDAP, Apache, PHP, etc.) • Working knowledge of industry-standard media software suchs as: Unity3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Max, Final Cut Pro, and Pro Tools. • Functional understanding of professional audio/visual production hardware such as video cameras, tripods, microphones, audio mixing boards, speakers, and video projectors • Network administration protocols for MacOS, Windows, and Ubuntu • Network software for network types and subnet delegation protocols (Supernet) • Able to use and maintain fabrication equipment (Ultimaker 3D printers, etc) • Knowledge of purchasing and budgeting tools (iBuy, etc.) • Inventory and License management • Knowledge and experience configuring and administering cloud storage services. • Knowledge of digital manufacturing equipment (3D printers, Laser cutters, and other rapid fabrication tools). • Knowledge of VR, AR, and motion capture equipment (HMD VR displays, mobile AR equipment, Optitrack and other motion capture equipment).
