Academic Technologies is seeking a Instructional Multimedia Consultant. This is a full-time (1.0FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
As a unit within University Information & Technology at Oregon State University, Academic Technology shares and supports the University’s mission by building and maintaining a technology ecosystem at OSU that enables scholarship, learning, and community engagement in an environment where innovation and academic excellence thrive. Academic Technology comprises Classroom Technology Services, Learning Platform Services, Media Services, Technical Services and Technology Across the Curriculum, providing services to the students, faculty and staff on the main campus, branch campus', and satellite centers and institutes. Academic Technology assists the university community by investing in and supporting instructional and media technology to enable educational innovation while enhancing a collaborative and engaged learning environment. Services are provided to students, faculty, and staff for curricular, intellectual, and administrative activities and needs.
The Instructional Multimedia Consultant position works with the Media Services team to provide operational support & service delivery for the Digital Media Creation Commons. Media Services provides a systems approach to digital media collaboration, creation and distribution platforms that serve Oregon State University's academic and business needs. Scheduled to open in Fall 2018, DMCC provides simple technology solutions that support the design, creation and sharing of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) digital instructional media & training content in support of teaching and learning at Oregon State University’s Corvallis campus.
The Instructional Multimedia Consultant is primarily responsible for consulting with faculty and staff on the design, creation and delivery of quality instructional and training multimedia materials created in the Digital Media Creation Commons using campus supported media creation and distribution platforms. Responsibilities include preparing user training and support materials, consulting with faculty and staff on media creation needs and best practices, assisting users to identify media formats that best support their instructional/training goals, providing technical and user support and workshops for available media creation technologies and ensuring the overall successful delivery of DMCC operational activities.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, education or related field. 3 years' experience in digital, video, interactive media, graphic arts, or instructional media and technology in higher education environment. Experience with web-based learning and instruction, courseware design and authoring tools, and media production.
- Baccalaureate degree in education, instructional technology, or related field - Three years’ experience in digital media production or related field - Experience designing and producing multimedia instructional materials - Demonstrated proficiency in visualization software and multimedia production, editing and distribution - Customer service experience providing technology solutions
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the criminal history check requirement.
