We are seeking a qualified, highly motivated person for a part-time position in the Digital Learning Lab, in the School of Education at the University of California Irvine. The Digital Learning Lab carries out research on a number of projects related to children's use of new technologies. The specialist will contribute to two projects investigating the impact of digital media use on children's language and literacy development: digital storytelling for English language arts and cloud-based collaborative writing. On the first project, the specialist will collaborative in the design of surveys and the analysis of quantitative data about digital storytelling processes and outcomes. In the second project, the specialist will assist with data analysis related to cloud-based collaborative writing and preparing papers for publication.
PhD in Education or a related field, or 10+ years' experience in educational research
Published research in digital learning
Professional recognition in educational research
A record of university or public service
Expertise in language and literacy development
Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research
Familiarity with text-mining techniques
Prior research experience with digital storytelling
Prior research experience with cloud-based collaborative writing
Appointment may be renewed after the first year pending funding. Expected start date is October 1, 2018.
