The VP Finance will work closely with the EVP/General Manager to manage the day-to-day financial operations, financial reporting, budgeting, etc. for the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Financial Reporting: Prepares monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and AEG financial reporting guidelines.
Prepares and analyzes financial reports for management on an as-needed basis.
Payroll: Partners with AEG Payroll office in Los Angeles. Reviews bi-weekly payroll reports, complies with tax requirements, and analyzes personnel costs.
Staff Management: Supervises and oversees the work of a Financial Analyst, Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, Manager of Technology Services, and Accounting Manager. Responsible for hiring, coaching, reviewing performance, and ensuring the quality and timeliness of work.
Purchasing: Serves as the purchasing agent for the company following procurement policies and standard operating procedures.
Other: Monitors uses of the facilities in relation to re-billable services.
Provide a monthly accounting of revenues billed and collected.
Parking: Oversee and monitor the operation and finances.
Special projects as requested.
A minimum education level of: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Years of related work experience: 10+ years
Accounting experience with skill in staff management, fiscal planning, budget preparation and administration, data collection and analysis, developing and implementing policies and procedures, effective training, report preparation and designing and implementing accounting and financial systems and controls.
Experience handling all aspects of the accounting cycle.
Experience preparing and analyzing budget and financial reports and correspondence.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate well with management-level peers as well as other employees.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work under above-average pressure in meeting deadlines.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
Must be proficient with computers and MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, & Outlook. Knowledge of JD Edwards accounting software preferred but not required.
