SCRATCH LEARNING RESOURCES COORDINATOR , Media Laboratory , to develop digital media and printed materials to support creative learning with Scratch. Will help brainstorm, write, design, and implement inviting materials that support children in making projects in the Scratch creative coding environment; help facilitate workshops for youth and educators; and coordinate with translators to localize Scratch learning resources. Responsibilities include collaborating with other team members to write and develop learning materials that inspire children's creativity with coding; iterating on existing learning materials for the Scratch online community; creating and editing images, video, and text for use on web, social media, and print; translating videos and other media in coordination with translators localizing Scratch learning resources into diverse languages; and helping facilitate workshops for youth and educators and gathering observations and feedback to inform the development of learning resources.
With Scratch , kids create interactive projects such as stories, games, and animations and share them in a dynamic online community. Scratch is free and used by millions of young people around the world.
REQUIRED : B.A. or at least two years' experience in the education and/or computer science field; experience designing, creating, and revising creative learning resources; fluency with video and image editing software (including ScreenFlow, InDesign, Photoshop, or their equivalents); experience developing learning resources, including prototyping, iterating, revising, and improving based on observations and feedback; fluency in Spanish or other world language; excellent writing and communication skill; experience facilitating activities for youth from diverse backgrounds; strong planning and organization skills; ability to work independently or collaborate as part of a team; and experience creating and exploring diverse projects with Scratch. This is a one-year appointment with possibility of extension based upon funding availability and project needs. Job #16632
