Stanford University seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Athletics Director Technical Operations.
This position will report to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Facilities, Operations and Events and will oversee a staff of 4 people.
Core Duties: Manage and direct all day to day video coverage for events, video production room, equipment, video boards and audio systems, web streaming and TV broadcasting at all athletic facilities. Develop strategic plans in terms of equipment and operating budgets of department. Oversees start-up and replacement of equipment and inventory and monitor life-cycles and forecast emergent technologies and trends. Research and report latest innovations for in-venue video boards and game-day elements. Oversee scheduling and part time staff for broadcasting and Board shows at home athletic events. Represent the athletic department and advise in technical areas with the University or outside productions such as live television broadcasts. Support the athletic department and personnel with answers to technical problems and oversight of all electric scoreboards in athletic facilities. Manages payroll functions for game-day audio and visual staffs. Ensures the appropriate time keeping and Human Resources procedures are followed. Also be responsible of oversight of financial budget of equipment, staffing and maintenance.
Knowledge in analog, digital video, fiber and audio systems are crucial for this position. Good communications and positive relationships with outside groups, students, faculty, staff and the ability to work with other technical personnel are essential. Support game presentation elements and fan experience staff. Evening and weekend hours are required as well as attending weekly production, operation and planning meetings as needed.
Outstanding organizational and communication skills in a fast paced environment are required. Must have the ability to work on deadline and handle several responsibilities simultaneously. Strong knowledge of current and emergent audio/video technologies and video production are essential. Have proven ability to plan effectively and to manage/supervise projects and work queues. Significant independent judgment and self-motivation are needed for this position. Bachelor's degree and five and years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
