The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth seeks to add to its pool of temporary instructors available to teach during Spring 2019, May/Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and/or Spring 2020. Note: being a member of the pool does not ensure a contract will be offered; course offerings, and therefore teaching appointments vary with demand and available funding. Job duties and responsibilities include teaching courses in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or environmental health & safety, possibly online or via interactive television.
Essential Qualifications: Applicants are required to have a Masters degree in an engineering, technical or business field from a regionally accredited university; training or teaching experience in a corporate or academic setting. Examples include, but are not limited to, teaching assistant, guest lecturer, workshop/seminar presenter, and corporate trainer; and excellent writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: an earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited university in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or environmental health & safety; industrial experience in an engineering field; experience teaching engineering courses at the college/university level, including labs; ability to support the University's commitment to equity and diversity; ability to contribute to multiple degree programs; demonstrated ability to teach courses from the following areas: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, System Dynamics, Control Systems, Environmental Health & Safety, Kinematics & Mechatronics, Robotics, Finite Element Analysis, CAD/CAM, Systems Integration, Facilities Planning and Simulation, Lean Production Management, Operations Research, Machine Design, and Senior Design; licensed professional engineer; and excellent verbal communication skills.
