If so, Davidson’s Technology & Innovation (T&I) division is looking for a Digital Media and 3D Technologies Specialist to join our Instructional Design team.
The Digital Media and 3D Technologies Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, assistance and mentoring in the implementation and integration of current and emerging digital media and 3D technologies in support of teaching, learning, and research. S/he will support faculty in developing projects relating to digital storytelling, short form video, podcasts, and virtual and augmented reality; and will provide training and documentation in support of these types of projects. This person will also maintain and manage the campus media lab, the virtual reality lab, and associated resources for faculty and student use, and supports other instructional technologies and projects as needed.
They will collaborate with faculty and model incorporation of research-based best practices in digital media and 3D technologies when planning learning experiences. The position requires strong knowledge of the principles of digital media production and a deep knowledge of available and emerging 3D technologies. Enthusiasm for continually learning about new technologies and a firm commitment to providing exceptional partner support is essential.
This position is part of a team of academic technologists and instructional designers serving the Davidson campus community. In addition to a primary focus on digital media, the incumbent will assist with general support of core academic technologies and services as needed.
As a member of the Technology and Innovation team, the Digital Media Specialist is expected to uphold the department’s mission to “drive digital transformation that advances Davidson’s primary purpose” and contribute positively to a culture of collaboration, transparency, empathy, innovation, and accountability within Technology and Innovation.
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, digital media, or related field, and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated experience with the pedagogical application of digital media and 3D technologies into instruction. Proficiency with applications and tools directly supporting digital media creation and manipulation, presentation, and graphic design, including Adobe Creative Suite, Apple iSuite, digital video, photography and audio equipment, streaming media, and other technologies. Familiarity with applications and tools directly supporting 3D technologies including Steam VR, Oculus VR, Unity and/or Unreal Engine, 360 photography, and photogrammetry. Experience with head mounted, projection, and augmented reality display systems, tracking systems, and game engine scripting. Demonstrated proficiency developing and delivering training and effective support materials. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills and ability to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people within an academic community. Willingness to embrace and leverage social media for teaching, training, and promotion of media lab opportunities. Project and time management skills, with ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Has working knowledge of the core academic technologies such as the LMS, lecture capture tools, web hosting, and others as determined by the team.

Advanced degree in a related field. Teaching experience. Coding experience. Understanding of and experience with web design. Experience working with college-age students and an understanding of their digital experiences, requirements and needs. Experience in a higher education setting.
