The Visual and Performing Arts Department at Manhattan College invites applications for a Coordinator of Digital Media Technology to begin August 2019. Inclusive of Art History, Digital Media Arts, Music, and Theater, the VPA Department seeks an outstanding interdisciplinary artist or scholar who critically engages the philosophies, methods, techniques, and problematics of contemporary digital media and demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will lead the department's Digital Media Arts Program and possess expertise in two or more of the following: digital photography; digital video; digital drawing; graphic design; and collaborative project management.
Section II: Responsibilities
Reports to: Chair of Department
The person will work closely with VPA faculty to integrate digital humanities into the departmental curriculum, participate in additional departmental and college-wide initiatives, such as the newly founded Digital Arts and Humanities Program, and remain active in his or her field. Other responsibilities include teaching three introductory courses per semester in the candidate's specialization; supervising, budgeting, and overseeing the purchasing for two digital media labs (one visual, the other audio); and working collaboratively on faculty and student exhibitions in the departmental art gallery.
Section III: Qualifications
Qualifications: MFA, PHD, and ABD candidates will be considered. The position is classified as a full-time, non-tenure track administrative line, and is subject to renewable 1-year contracts.
Compensation: $58,500 plus benefits.
