Position Description: This position is a member of the Housing & Residential Life (HRL) technology unit. The department of Housing & Residential Life is comprised of 13 residence halls/apartments. The Business Application and Systems Analyst leads, coordinates and implements process improvements within systems to streamline work and improve service delivery to residents and guests. This position supports departmental business applications/systems in coordination with University of Minnesota support units.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities for this position include the following: Business Application System Analyst - 60% • Works closely with end users in the halls/apartments, business process owner and technical staff to align technological solutions and strategies to improve service to customers and/or reduce costs. • Facilitates process of creating AS IS and TO BE business process maps with various HRL unit staff. • Installs and configures business application software to fit business processes. • Leads, analyzes, designs, tests and implements solutions incorporating end-user input and requirements for hardware and/or software systems. • Manages assets (e.g., inventory and replacement schedule of projectors, video equipment, televisions, computers, and mobile devices). • Manages the schedules and tasks associated with department-level system upgrades, annual maintenance and support with vendors and business process owners. • Leads and executes data migrations from current to new systems. • Manages the integration of cloud-hosted resources with University based systems. • Provides department-level support for enterprise-level systems and interfaces (Salesforce, Google, ImageNow, et al.) • Utilizes reporting tools for enterprise-level data or tools within current business applications for department-level data to meet business process owner needs for decision making. • Purchases small wares and replacement parts. • On-boards new staff and provides end-users with technical support and orientation for business continuity.
Systems Management - 15% • Provides support for stationary and mobile devices for those working remotely including audio systems for presentations. • Serves as the Internet, data and voice service coordinator for HRL business staff and residents supported by UMN. Troubleshoots and resolves networking issues; implements improvements to prevent similar problems in the future. • Serves as service coordinator for surveillance camera equipment supported by UMN. • Provides maintenance, support and training on business applications and systems to users and coworkers.
Supervision/Management - 20% • Hires, trains and supervises approximately 6-8 technical student staff with the primary role of supporting business operations. • Hires, trains and supervises approximately 12-14 residence hall student technology staff supporting residents in learning technologies in tech lounges and collaboration stations.
Other duties as assigned -5% • Investigates and analyzes new applications and technologies. • Participates as a subject matter expert on various cross-functional project work teams. • Contributes to a collaborative work group environment.
¬¬Work environment: Work is performed primarily in central office setting with site visits to any student housing buildings during 7:30AM – 4:00PM or 8:00AM – 4:30PM Monday through Friday with occasional work on evenings and weekends.
Salary: $58,616 - $66,000
Minimum qualifications: (Knowledge, skills and abilities) BA/BS degree required. Two years of work experience in the areas of business or systems process analysis with related degree. Four years of work experience in the areas of business or systems process analysis with a non-related degree.
Applicant must have excellent organizational skills and communication skills (written and verbal). The successful applicant will have proven their ability to collaborate and work in a team, as well as, work independently. Applicant must be detailed-oriented, demonstrate the ability to manage several projects simultaneously; and demonstrate the ability to adapt to an evolving and changing environment. The following minimum Intermediate/Expert technical skills are required: • Database (Microsoft Access, MS SQL) • Operating Systems (Windows, Mac OS) • Network Administration Tools (Active Directory) • Security (Firewall, AntiVirus, Device) • Device maintenance and repair • Experience as a lead worker • Ability to lift 15 pounds and load technology equipment into a University vehicle. • Valid Class C driver’s license
