Oversee departmental videography and post-production, including coordinating a team of student employees. Provide a wide range of hands-on technical assistance in the operation of our technology-rich classrooms and meeting spaces. Assist in the design or redesign of learning spaces, as well as the installation of equipment along with performing preventative maintenance, problem diagnosis, and repair.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for coordinating and performing video recording, post-production and distribution of academic events. Coordinate and train student employees, who record most events after 4:00 pm and on weekends, including their work in video production. Help faculty with presentation planning (for example, slide design for best projection) to enhance information presented through different media.
Troubleshoot media equipment, including its software, hardware and networking issues. Install classroom technology equipment in accordance with industry standards. Diagnose routine equipment malfunctions and provide users with problem resolution, or escalate as needed. Monitor and respond to email and Help Desk requests while working collaboratively with ITS team members to deliver excellent service and support.
Provide a wide range of media support to the Denison community for technology-enhanced events and assist with the provision of and training on media equipment for faculty, students, and staff. Research, recommend and collaborate on learning space renovations for flexible and sustainable design. Provide customer service to diverse groups with different levels of technology skills and understand the professional aspects of media production in a higher education setting.
Perform standard equipment setup, including computers, data projectors, digital camcorders, audio recorders, and other multimedia equipment. Participate in event planning, set-up and tear down as well as be present at events to monitor equipment and ensure things work properly during the event, including for special speakers and some after-hours events. Assist in support for web conferencing meetings.
Train faculty, staff and students in the proper use of various types of instructional media equipment and demonstrate the operation of such equipment in the form of video tutorials, written instructions, individual sessions, or scheduled workshops.
Maintain equipment, such as cameras, projectors and presentation systems. Oversee and maintain video equipment inventory, storage and security. Assist in monitoring and ensuring the availability, circulation, security and proper maintenance of portable multimedia equipment. Record and maintain statistics on equipment usage and support provided.
Remain current on new technology, advances in video production, and audio visual solutions to enhance learning.
Occasional evening and weekend work to respond to emergencies and to provide event support.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Associate's degree in a media-focused field with areas of emphasis such as media services, multimedia, video production, video streaming, and live sound mixing; or, two years of experience in a related field.
Must possess knowledge of current computer hardware, operating systems, client/server and network technologies. Must be proficient in video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Encore.
Knowledge of digital media, such as EDID-HDCP; technology used in system integration; visual and audio communication and its use in education; understanding of classroom technology and troubleshooting problems in the classroom; equipment used in video technology and audio as it relates to HD video.
Critical thinking; time management and prioritization; customer service skills to support and train a diverse population of varying levels of technical understanding (students, faculty, staff, visitors).
Must have a current, valid driver's license and must be insurable under Denison's liability insurance policy.
Bachelor's degree. Two or more years of experience in supporting media technology in an educational setting. Instruction and/or extensive client training experience.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, visually, and in writing; be collaborative and an active listener, remain calm in high pressure and/or difficult situations, analyze and resolve problems with minimal supervision; build relationships on campus; follow protocols and escalation procedures and be able to appropriately prioritize tasks to meet customers' needs/expectations on time.
