MSU Information Technology seeks an Instructional Designer on the Digital Content and Accessibility team. Will work on a cross-functional team of creative video producers, and instructional designers to provide consultation, faculty development, and production assistance to develop high-quality and accessible digital content for courses, programs and other service areas and courses for online, blended, and face-to-face delivery. This position will collaborate with academic departments and programs to develop effective plans for content development and support. Leads and assists with evaluation and assessment of emerging technologies and best practices in teaching and learning with technology. Design and develop faculty development opportunities. Work across MSU unit boundaries to help implement collegiate and campus-wide initiatives. Participates in workgroups,and cross-functional teams as needed. Designs and conducts trainings to support MSU IT service offerings. Provides professional development and supervision to student employees. MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, research and engagement.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in instructional design, digital media arts, technology, information systems, educational administration, educational psychology, educational technology, etc., with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related work experience in instructional design, faculty development, interaction design, project management, education; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Five or more years of related responsible or expansive work experience. Masters degree or significant experience in the field of higher education, educational technology, course design; etc. Excellent communication skills. Adult learning and/or college teaching experience. Experience with learning/course management systems. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, organize, develop and conduct faculty development experiences. Knowledge of current and emerging instructional technology and best practices. Experience designing and conducting assessment and evaluation of technology-rich educational interventions and processes. Also, two to three years of experience in leading and mentoring other professionals. Ability to foster and continuously improve a creative team environment to support cross-functional and interdisciplinary work.
