The College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University is looking for a Multimedia Specialist to join the Office of Information Technology team.
The goal of this position is to enhance digital learning opportunities within the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) consistent with the university and college strategic plans for effective, innovative education. As part of the Academic Technology team within the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE), the Multimedia Specialist supports the production of multimedia-based projects including for educational, informational, and promotional purposes. The position plans, produces, and delivers a range of creative products, including, but not limited to, video, animation, audio, print, photography, and emerging mediums such as augmented/virtual reality and ebooks.
The Specialist collaborates with the Academic Technology team and EHE instructors to design, develop, deliver, and assess multimedia components for coursework and to identify and recommend possible multimedia, software, and strategies in course design and facilitation. This collaboration will include consultations on course design projects (brainstorming, vision, storyboarding, recommendations for video and multimedia) and production management on high-impact courses and initiatives (scheduling, directing and coaching talent, pre- and post-production timeline), and recording and editing. The Multimedia Specialist oversees the creation, scheduling, maintenance, and continuous upgrade of EHE’s recording and studio spaces. The role also delivers workshops and other training opportunities to EHE instructors, staff, and students in the areas of recording class sessions, creating effective multimedia products, digital storytelling, and more.
Finally, this position will explore and recommend new technologies, multimedia styles, and processes to incorporate into EHE’s service offerings as well as provide support for Mediasite lecture capture screen recording software. The Specialist applies and communicates best practices and maintains awareness of issues and trends in multimedia production, videography, animation, graphic design, audio engineering, and emerging technologies and should also be able to apply principles of multimedia learning, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility requirements to all creative products. The Multimedia Specialist achieves and maintains expert-level proficiency with multimedia creation tools, including Adobe Creative Suite: Premier Pro, After Effects, Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.

About the Office of Information Technology
The Office of Information Technology in the College of Education and Human Ecology is made up of 5 teams: Classroom Services, Client Computing, Instructional Design, Multimedia Production and Web Services. All together, we bring more than 120 years of IT experience to the College of Education and Human Ecology. We are proud of our skills and our commitment to bring you excellent service.
Reporting to the Academic Technology Director, the Multimedia Specialist will work in a fast paced, collaborative team that provides a wide variety of information technology services throughout the college. To ensure that services are provided, this position may be required to work outside of regular working hours and use their own vehicle to transport gear as needed. The specialist should be a self-motivated worker who operates effectively independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate for this position will accomplish the following:
Bachelor's degree in Video/Film Production, Fine Art, Digital Media Communications, Educational Technology, or related field of study
1-2 years of experience in videography, film production, or animation
1-2 years of experience with DSLR and professional video cameras, professional audio equipment, and field and studio lighting
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, including: Premier Pro, After Effects, Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Examples of professional portfolio required
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, verbal and written skills required
Desired requirements include:
Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines, ADA, DMCA, Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Previous audio/video studio management experience
Familiarity with principles of multimedia learning
Target Salary: $47,500.00 - $57,360.00 Annually
