The Event Producer in Go Heels Productions is responsible for managing individual broadcast productions for live events being produced by the unit. Athletics will need to eventually hire two individuals in this position to cover all of the broadcast needs. This position will manage the pre-production and execution of all elements required for a successful broadcast. The requirements must meet broadcast partner and University specifications. These broadcasts include ACC Network, ACC Network Extra, video board and other productions. The Event Producer is ultimately responsible for the images, sounds, graphics and other elements accurately depicting the story of the event being broadcast. The Event Producer will report to the Coordinating Producer, who is responsible for all live broadcast projects within the department. The Event Producer will work with the Coordinating Producer, engineering, operations and Gameday personnel as required to coordinate both the creative and technical needs of broadcasts.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
1-3 years’ experience working in live sports broadcast production filling the role of Producer or Director. Experience working a variety of control room positions including graphics, replay, and/or audio roles. Ability to confidently lead a large group, quickly make decisions and communicate those decisions during broadcasts. Understanding of the technical aspects of the broadcast including routing, switching and transmission. Basic videography, editing and scriptwriting skills
A degree in broadcast, design or a communications related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies and tactics of the 28 sports in which UNC fields a varsity program. Ability to recruit and teach students interested in pursuing a broadcast career.
