Working Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Stage and Screen Technology and Production
Appointment Type: Faculty
This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track undergraduate faculty position (100% teaching) at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor; dependent upon qualifications in the Department of Stage and Screen Arts. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester with reassigned time possible for theatrical production responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interests and ability to teach a range of courses our Stage and Screen Arts program; be able to perform the duties of a Production Manager and possess the ability to step into a position of leadership (including possible chair) after the first year.
Opportunities exist for optional summer employment through teaching, research grants, internship supervision and other funding sources. Anticipated Appointment date: August 24, 2020
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
MFA (terminal degree) or PhD from a comprehensive University in Theatre, Film Production, and/or a related field.
Ability to teach from the courses listed above which are required for our Stage and Screen Arts Program
Minimum of 3 years collegiate or teaching assistant teaching experience.
Ability to step into a position of leadership (including Production Manager and possibly Chair) after the first year.
Knowledgeable and skilled in facilities operations and management for live theatre production.
Proven production management skills in live theatre production and technical management.
Experience in both theatre and film production.
Experience as a Departmental Chair. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in serving as an academic department chair in a small interdisciplinary arts program.
Ability to teach courses such as playwriting, screenwriting, and television studio production.
