Overview
This key position will be responsible for leading the operations of the Tandon Media Services team and technology that directly supports all students, faculty, administrators, staff and alumni. The position will direct the following functional areas while providing the highest levels of customer service: Help Desk, Conference Room, Classroom and special event audio visual support. This includes interfacing with project architects and vendors, providing product recommendations, vendor management, reviewing low voltage layout, and installation oversight. This position reports to the Director, Operations & Administration and has 1 direct report, 5 indirect full-time reports and up-to 7 part-time employees. Responsible for hiring, training & development and performance management. Under the guidance of the Director of Operations & Administration, develop and implement policies for process improvement in the media services area.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Education: Master's Degree Demonstrated aptitude and field education may be suitable substitutions depending on the given candidate Ideal certifications: CTS-D, CQ-D, CTS-I. PMP certification helpful
Required Experience: 7+ years in Digital Media Services or Audio Visual services, with increasing management responsibility, ability to manage staff, in a high-paced, deadline driven environment or equivalent. Experience consulting on a variety of digital audio, visual, and multimedia equipment and usage; troubleshooting and diagnosing repairs needs; managing equipment inventory; supervising operations and staff.
Preferred Experience: 7+ years Related experience within an educational institution.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: - A passionate desire to provide world-class customer support and team management.
- Moderate to deep understanding of AV systems programming.
- Must be able to handle situations of deep operational and institutional complexity with grace, candor, and end user focus.
- Understands how to design AV and digital signage systems making the necessary adjustments to mic placement, cameras, monitors/projectors, viewing angle, loudspeaker placement, low voltage infrastructure, power requirements, acoustics, display / projector brightness.
- Ability to comprehend architectural design plans and communicate with architects, facilities, IT and end users.
- Able to break down complex ideation into common language for non-technical users.
- Must be able to demonstrate intellectual curiosity, academic rigor, and decisiveness.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of AV over IP regarding the following product lines: Kraemer, Crestron, Cisco (network and videoconferencing), Polycom video conferencing, Zoom, Zignage, Extron, Evertz, and NewTek.
- Preferred knowledge in EMS workflows designing team oriented solutions to respond to client needs and event services. VEMS process template design abilities a plus.
- Understands risks associated with cloud versus on premise applications.
- Deep understanding of Dante, AES 67, MADI, AVB, NDI, etc: AV over IP.
- Understands the needs and risks of AV programming with RS 232, Telnet, TCP/IP, API, etc.
- Understands signal flow and DSP programming.
- Able to generate AutoCAD or similar line diagrams to express technical intent to Audio Visual Integrators as well as modification of architectural elevations and floor plans.
- Understands augmented reality and virtual reality system setup and design.
