Part-Time Health Simulation Technician (Technical Specialist)
Up to 20 hours per week from September through June
Non-benefited, MCCC unit position
Under the direction of the Dean of Health Professions & Human Services and the Health Simulation Coordinator, the Health Simulation Technician serves as simulator operator by programming, testing and running scenarios with faculty instructors and provides technical support for all aspects of simulation technology. Provides technical support for all simulation operations, including the preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, and related computer & multimedia peripherals. In addition, the Health Simulation Technician participates in all aspects of set up, running and turnover of simulation programming.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assure that the facility and equipment are set up for teaching sessions, including set up of computers, audio/visual equipment, clinical equipment e.g. IV pumps, oxygen tanks, code cart and defibrillator.
Provides technical support for computer-based multimedia systems and their components, including troubleshooting network connectivity, operation of digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, digital/analog converter, monitors, projectors, and other equipment.
Operates different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task- trainers to screen-based simulations to high fidelity simulators and virtual reality simulators.
Acquires and installs hardware and software systems/software/updates in order to maintain maximum operability of all simulation-related equipment and functions.
Supports the use of digital media and web-stream creation for educational and professional distribution, distributes content and archives data, and provides advanced troubleshooting
Conducts scheduled, routine equipment maintenance including software updates for Windows and Apple OS as well as updates for all necessary 3rd party applications as well maintains equipment repair records.
Participates in the training of faculty and other Simulation Center staff in the operational aspects of simulation.
Performs regular inventory reconciliation in accordance with established timelines.
Maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design and implementation by attending trainings and conferences
Communicates in a positive, professional manner with faculty instructors, students and other users of the Simulation Center and establishes relationships amongst technical staff of similar simulations centers to foster professional growth and development.
Evaluates new equipment, participates in scenarios as needed and identifies opportunities for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education.
Assists with other special projects or initiatives as needed.
SALARY: $28.29 per hour, Non-benefited position. Up to 20 hours per week from September through June.

Associate Degree in an Information Technologies-related field or equivalent combination of certification(s) and work experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience with programming, operating and troubleshooting is required. Related experience with simulation manikins and equipment- e.g., Laerdal Simulators - SimMan 3G, SimMom, SimJr, Sim Baby, SimNewB, Simpad, SimView, monitors, Audio Visual equipment preferred.
Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) preferred.
Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical staff required.
Ability to set priorities on own initiative.
Ability to work in team environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule and accommodate change.
An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds require a team lift technique.
Ability to work productively and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Able to function in an environment with substantial latex and/or nitrile material exposure
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
Additional Salary Information: $28.29 per hour, Non-benefited position. Up to 20 hours per week from September through June.
