The Institute of Invention, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at NYU Tandon is looking for an Associate Research Scientist to work with the director of the Institute on several research aspects of grant-funded projects related to the PowerbridgeNY, NYCRIN, and MD5 Launch programs. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: - Identifying existing technology gaps in industries such as Cleantech, Smart Cities, AI, and VR/AR - Preparing research summaries on selected technology solutions for various audiences - Preparing summaries of research papers for the director - Preparing summaries of patents and other IP materials relevant to specific technology verticals - Converting pertinent points of the research summaries above into visual and presentation materials for the director
This a grant-funded, part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) for a fixed term from 9/1/2018 – 8/31/2019 (depending on the availability of funding).
The ideal candidate has a broad interest in diverse technology fields (rather than an in-depth knowledge in a specific technology vertical), experience in working with researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs, and a solid understanding of the startup and academic entrepreneurship culture at NYC academic institutions. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must as is the ability to multi-task. Familiarity with the PowerbridgeNY, NYCRIN, and/or MD5 Launch programs is desirable. Other specific requirements include: - Minimum of 3 years work experience (part-time of full-time) in an academic innovation and entrepreneurship environment - BS degree in an engineering, technology or related field (e.g. IDM, ITP, Tech Management) required, MS degree preferred - Proficiency with software packages such as MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, and Video Editing and Digital Media and Photography required; familiarity with Design and Internet tools (Wordpress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Canva, Spirablelash) desirable
