McDonogh School is in search of an Upper School Visual Arts Teacher with a passion for creating dynamic and student-centered educational experiences. A strong candidate possesses the ability to utilize a wide range of artistic media in order to develop students’ creative confidence, curiosity, and technical ability. It is essential that they possess a breadth of artistic and educational experience in addition to a deep understanding of their personal specialty. The candidate must be comfortable working in a high energy and fast-paced environment within which the facilitation and management of numerous student projects occur simultaneously. Additionally, the applicant needs to be willing and excited to work with a team that embraces continual ideation, reflection, and development for the advancement of an ever-evolving art program.
More specifically, art-educators with a background in Digital Media are highly encouraged to apply. An essential piece of this position will be to aid in the development of meaningful curricula that embrace a multitude of digital media approaches to artistic creation. Technical experience managing a digital art lab is also a plus; this would include a deep knowledge of Mac/PC machines and software, printers, scanners, cameras, pen tablets, smart devices, VR/AR technology, networking, etc.
Digital experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant digital art applications
Proficient in the use of many artistic media, including, but not limited to: drawing + painting, clay, design, mixed media, photography, and video.
