Summary of Duties: The Digital Technology and Culture program at Washington State University in Pullman invites applications for an Assistant ProfessorCareer Track, sub track Teaching, starting August 16, 2020. This is a temporary, nine month, three year appointment with possibility of renewal.
The successful applicant is expected to teach at least two of the required undergraduate courses for the major (101, 201, 206) one of which will be a large lecture course, and be able to teach 2 or 3 of the following courses emphasizing the intersection of creative productive and critical inquiry: DTC 330 or 331 (Social Media case Studies/ Practices), DTC 354 (Digital Storytelling), DTC 355 (Multimedia Authoring), DTC 356 (Information Structures), DTC 375 (Language, Text and Technology), DTC 392 (Video Games Theories and History), DTC 476 (Digital Literacies) [all DTC courses listed here: https://dtc.wsu.edu/courses/]. The successful applicant will also aid in the management of lab spaces; be an active part of the DTC core faculty; mentor students and work in collaboration with other units in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and work with DTC faculty to develop high impact undergraduate courses.
Required Qualifications: 1. MFA, or MDe, MAD, MGraph, or Ph.D. in Information Sciences, Interactive Design, Web Design, Graphic Design, Data Visualization, Virtual Design, Interactive Media, Digital Media Studies, Game Design or closely related area by the hire date; 2. Evidence of successful classroom and individual instruction; 3. Evidence of scholarly or professional experience related to the classes they are able to teach; and 4. Evidence of ability to mentor students, including those from diverse backgrounds.
