Job Title: Educational Media Specialist & Communications Media Instructor

Reports to: Academic Dean & Director of the Staunton Campus
Job Summary: This is a full-time position that includes supporting faculty in delivering online, remote instruction and developing a communications media curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Communications Media Instructor: With the completion of Stuart Hall’s newly constructed Eastham Center, the School aims to develop a curriculum where students can explore the intersection of design, communications, and digital media technology to enable them to creatively share their passions; demonstrate content knowledge, skills, and understanding; and confidently tell their own stories. The School envisions a skills-based curriculum that may include videography, documentary filmmaking as well as an array of auxiliary after-school and summer programs.The Communications Media instructor will collaborate with the Academic Dean and subject area teachers to:
Develop curriculum in all phases of video production to include scripting, recording, editing, audio, studio lighting, directing and computer graphics
Instruct students in the use of an array of software applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro and other video software
Demonstrate to students the proper operation and use of video production equipment.
2. Educational Media Specialist: In the upcoming school year, Stuart Hall has committed to delivering instruction remotely to students regionally and internationally. Supporting faculty in all technological aspects of this work is the primary responsibility in the 2020-2021 school year, including:
Supporting a faculty of fifteen teachers in synchronous and asynchronous instruction for students in remote locations around the
Training and supporting faculty in utilizing technology
Enabling students to synchronously participate remotely
Recording, editing, and uploading instruction for asynchronous participation
Maintaining equipment, educational media learning management system, and troubleshooting educational media issues as they arise, enabling teachers to focus on
Serving as a faculty adviser to approximately 10-15 students
Participation in other student life opportunities
Supporting the school’s mission and culture
Adhering to the guidelines in the employee manual
Proactively providing parent and student communication
Desired education, experience, and skills background:
Broad academic background that may include media/film, communications, digital media, or related
Experience with teaching or desire to teach high school-aged
Demonstrated skills with video, film and media
Experience with editing and design
Ability to work with students on how to properly use the
Knowledge of current camera and audio equipment, as well as editing
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage
Strong interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.
Digital Animation and Graphic Design skills are a plus
Strong interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and other adults; team skills, such as curriculum planing with others
Strong communication skills, including experience in writing student comments and other school-related documents
Motivation and interest in professional development
