Department Summary
UCLA Film & Television Archive, a department of the UCLA Library, collects moving images as works of art and as social and historical documents, restores and preserves moving images for current and future generations, curates collections, programs, and events using moving images to advance knowledge, and provides access to moving images for purposes of research, education, and enjoyment. The Archive's collections consist of over 500,000 holdings dating from the dawn of cinema to the present and cover a broad spectrum of content from major Hollywood studios films and network television shows to independent productions and news footage.


Position Summary
Working under the direction of the Film and Television Archive Radio Project Manager, the Radio Project Assistant [RPA] is responsible for data entry, photography, labeling, rehousing, retrieval, and re-shelving of archival radio discs for the purposes of collection management and discovery. The RPA will photograph each radio disc, log basic information on a per-disc basis, and perform basic data entry tasks for inventory and collection control in various internal databases and spreadsheets. Additionally, the RPA will rehouse discs in new archival sleeves and boxes, and label and return items to specific shelf locations. The RPA will also retrieve discs for photography from vaults to organize/prepare physical materials for efficient, expedient throughput on a daily basis. In collaboration with the Radio Project Manager and Collection Services Staff, RPA will assist in keeping work and staging areas and radio vaults organized, including re-vaulting items to shelves. Additionally, RPA will assist in data entry quality control reviews, in updating records for accuracy, and in providing project information for narrative and metric reports.
