Video Arts and Technology Assistant Video Engineer

Under the supervision of the Director and/or Broadcast Engineer or a designee, the VAT (Video Arts & Technology) Assistant Video Engineer provides technical support in teaching broadcast operation and/or production environment. Duties include, but not limited to installing, operating, maintaining, and/or modifying various types of broadcast equipment, signal flow, and related software. The position will interact with students and faculty in the production classes. The Media Center is recruiting to fill VAT Assistant Video Engineer position as part of the college’s Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (formerly known as the Perkins Grant).
Other Duties
- Operate equipment related to broadcast operations in studios and on-location environments, such as cameras, switchers, teleprompters, graphics, lighting, audio, playback devices, editing software, and other equipment (this includes remote production setups)
- Maintain all broadcast equipment performing routine preventative maintenance and emergency repairs as well as assisting with remote production class equipment
- Check and test equipment to ensure proper mechanical and electrical functioning
- Work with the head engineer to maintain equipment and parts inventories
- May assist in training technical personnel engaged in certain phases of operating broadcast equipment and computer hardware and/or software
- Demonstrate sound awareness of health and safety issues related to broadcasting and the use of broadcast equipment
- Experience/familiarity with Avid FastServe or other digital playback systems
- Experience/familiarity with 3-D virtual environments such as Avid Maestro, Ross XPression, or unreal engine-style systems
- Understand Dante audio configurations (concerning microphones and sending audio signals across different studios)
- Experience with Avid workflows is beneficial
- Perform other duties as assigned
