Broadcast Transmission Operations Engineer
LTN is hiring a Broadcast Transmission Operations Engineer that will play an integral part in delivering high quality IP broadcasts of live sports and entertainment at scale. Working days/hours can vary and are centered around live-broadcast schedules. You will work out of LTN's state of the art control rooms in our facility located in Liberty, Missouri. Relocation assistance can be provided.
Job Overview:
Primarily responsible for supporting IP-based transmission technology used to broadcast live events (mostly professional/collegiate sports games).
Comprehensively manage several aspects of live event technical operations, ensuring seamless transmission and high-quality output for LTN’s partners and consumers.
This role will work in a fast paced live production environment out of LTN’s facility in Liberty, MO.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the transmission of live events and ensure that end-to-end transport, audio, video, graphics, and other elements are synchronized.
Perform checks in tandem with internal/external partners, before, during, and after live event broadcasts to ensure tools are functioning properly and to manage ingress and egress signals.
Assist in making sure video, audio, formats, framerates, and other factors are configured correctly for distribution.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Coordinate across teams and recover on-air signals in a short duration to avoid even 1 second of downtime.
Assist in the setup and configuration of encoders, decoders, transcoders, and captioners for live events. Including Remi / Direct Contribution and Master Control productions with both internal and external partners.
Monitor signals for quality control, making adjustments to maintain the highest quality delivery.
Provide real-time support to production teams to address last-minute changes or technical adjustments during live events.
Maintain support documentation and logs related to workflow tools, equipment, and technical operations.
Skills/Experience Needed:
1-5 years of experience related to providing technical support for live broadcasts or streams (audio and video). Collegiate experience is acceptable.
Genuine interest in learning LTN’s proprietary technology and ability to stay positive in high pressure situations.
Ability to work a flexible schedule (40 hrs/week, but days and hours can change).
Desired Experience (not required):
Basic knowledge of networking (routers, switches, IP networking), broadcast technologies (RTMP, IPTS, SRT, AWS Elemental), broadcast equipment (encoders, decoders, switchers, etc).
